Dr. Alie is passionate about psychological assessment and utilizes testing as a tool to advocate for clients. When kids or young adults are struggling – whether behaviorally, emotionally, or with their independent functioning – Dr. Alie uses assessment to diagnose the root problem and to create a plan to address the issues. Using a holistic approach, Dr. Alie likes to involve parents, caregivers, teachers, psychiatrists and/or primary-care physicians to better understand the child/adolescent’s functioning across environments. Her assessments address a range of concerns including challenges with school learning and achievement, accommodation needs, identifying underlying causes for behavioral or emotional struggles, and determining if interventions in place have been effective.

Dr. Alie has spent her life working and playing with kids and teens. She values community building, community participation, and community advocacy, including working with and for transgender and gender-diverse communities. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Alie received her Ph.D. at the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International University), studying and working with low resourced and historically marginalized communities. She completed her dissertation on examining health outcomes related to experiences of discrimination amongst transgender women of color struggling with HIV. Dr. Alie is also experienced in the field of addiction medicine, completing a pre-doctoral internship at Tarzana Treatment Centers. Continuing in her training, Dr. Alie specialized in child and adolescent assessment during her postdoctoral fellowship at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services. Since then, she served families and teens with the highest needs within community mental health and forensic settings, providing psychological testing and targeted therapy.

In her free time, Dr. Alie enjoys making art, hiking local trails, and spending time with her plump dog and temperamental cat. She loves to play, especially games like Uno and Jenga, which makes working with children a continued joy.
